Car with a driver in Sarajevo

You do not have to drive to have a car at your disposal. The driver meets you on arrival, takes you around the city or out of it, and waits while you finish. You pay per route or per day, with no parking and no working out the one-way streets.

Three ways this gets used

Same driver and same car, just a different arrangement.

Airport transfer, both ways

The most common reason. The driver meets you at arrivals with your name, takes the luggage and drives you to the hotel or the address. If the flight is late, he waits.

  • Sarajevo Airport to any address in the city
  • Return transfer timed to your departure
  • Intercity transfer, for instance Sarajevo to Mostar one way

Full-day hire for business

The car and driver are yours for the day. Between meetings the car waits for you, you are not hunting for parking and not late because a street in the centre is closed.

  • Several meetings at different addresses in one day
  • Meeting business guests and taking them around the city
  • Weddings, shoots and events with a fixed schedule

Day trips around Bosnia

A full day outside Sarajevo without anyone in the group missing the trip because they are driving. The driver knows the roads and knows where to stop.

  • Day trips returning to Sarajevo the same day
  • Several destinations in one day if they sit on the same route
  • Time at every stop, with nobody rushing you

The usual routes

Distances are by road from Sarajevo. Durations are given as a range because mountain roads in winter and the Mostar road in summer traffic do not have one number.

  • Vrelo Bosne

    Distance:
    12 km
    One-way drive:
    20-30 min

The shortest trip out of the city and the only one that fits in half a day. The driver drops you at the entrance and waits while you walk to the spring.

  • Bjelašnica

    Distance:
    30 km
    One-way drive:
    45-60 min

An Olympic mountain: hiking and the villages of Lukomir and Umoljani in summer, skiing in winter. In winter a driver who knows that road is a real difference.

  • Jahorina

    Distance:
    30 km
    One-way drive:
    40-60 min

The other Olympic mountain and the largest ski resort nearby. Worth it even if you do not ski and are only going up for lunch with a view.

  • Mostar

    Distance:
    130 km
    One-way drive:
    2-2.5 h

The Old Bridge and the old town, usually with a stop at Konjic or Počitelj. A full day, and a driver means you can come back in the evening without thinking about the road.

  • Kravice waterfall

    Distance:
    180 km
    One-way drive:
    2.5-3 h

Most often combined with Mostar into one long day. People swim there in summer, so bring what you need for the water.

When a driver actually pays off

  • You are here two or three days on business. A transfer plus a driver on call often costs less than a rental, parking and the time lost finding addresses.
  • There are several of you going on a trip. Nobody misses the drive because they are driving, and nobody comes back tired from 300 kilometres.
  • You do not know the city. Central Sarajevo has one-way streets, a tram line and parking zones that nobody gets right first time.
  • Winter conditions. For Bjelašnica and Jahorina between December and March, a driver who knows those roads is a difference you feel.

How the price is worked out

Two options. Per route, when you know exactly where you are going — the airport to your hotel, say. Or per day, when you want the driver at your disposal and cannot say in advance how much you will move around.

Trips are almost always priced per day, because waiting time is part of it. Tell us the destination, the date and how many of you there are, and you get the exact amount before you confirm.

Questions about hiring a driver

How many people can travel?

Up to four passengers in the standard cars. For a larger group we have vans that take considerably more passengers plus the driver, up to nine seats. Tell us the number of passengers when booking and we will suggest which vehicle fits.

Does the driver speak English?

Tell us which language you need when booking and we will arrange it. Do not leave it until the day you arrive.

Does the driver wait while I do my business?

Yes, that is the point of full-day hire. Waiting is part of the daily rate, not charged separately by the hour.

Can the driver take me outside Bosnia and Herzegovina?

Yes, with enough notice for the green card and border paperwork. Say where you are going when you book, not on the day you leave.

What if my plans change during the day?

With full-day hire that is no problem, you sort it out with the driver on the spot. With a per-route booking, changing the destination changes the price, so tell us first.

Tell us the route and the date

Send where you are going, on what date and how many of you there are. We come back with a price and the right car.
